St. Oswald's Church will reopen on Sunday 4th October
Message from John Clarke, Church Warden.
"The Diocesan Architect has visited St Oswald’s to inspect the damaged ceiling in the Chancel and has advised that we are safe to return for services in the main body of the church and side chapels.
The PCC has agreed to go back to our normal pattern of services at St Oswald’s from Sunday 4th October so as to give sufficient notice to the congregation. There will be the usual 9am BCP service on that date followed by a Baptism Service at 10.30am. All are welcome.
Everyone enjoyed our recent services in St John’s, including the lovely, warm baptism service for baby Olivia conducted by Rev Richard and Janice. Thank you to Trevor and everyone who assisted.
The architect has submitted his report and has asked for a quote from a specialist company to carry out the
St Oswald’s repair work, which he expects should be completed “in weeks rather than months”.

As Rev. Phil Maudsley has left to take up his new post as "Ministry Area Leader" for the Penarth Ministry Area in South Wales, Filey Parish is now in the process of recruiting a new Vicar.

Christian Aid Week 2026
Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to Christian Aid Week this year - the total amount raised was £1343.69 - the result of a magnificent effort. This sum does not include any Gift Aid that is claimed and administered by Christian Aid. Special mention to John for all his work in co-ordinating everything this year. This means that more women like Belinda (see video below) will be able to support their families through urban gardening. Thank you all.
