The Parish Centre at the rear of St. John's Church was converted in the 1970's as a multi-use space for many different groups. It has served the community very well for 40 years or more, but 3 years ago we embarked on a journey to refurbish it and make it fit for purpose for the next generations.
The first phase has now been completed. This has created a new larger space and even better facilities for the community of Filey. With a brand new kitchen, storage, new toilets and a large room upstairs, new heating system and a complete rewire, there is now better use of the space and facilities.
The official opening and dedication service was held on 27th June with the Bishop of Hull. As soon as restrictions allow we will be fully open again and welcoming back the many groups that have used it in the past as well as many new groups and activities.
This 2020Vision is an ambitious project to develop both spiritually as followers of Christ and to refurbish St John’s Church Centre. We are looking to create a vibrant community hub for mission, outreach and social action within Filey for the 2020’s and beyond. We hope to be developing new areas of community support in the coming months as well as starting new groups such as Cubs and Beavers.
Phase1 is now completed and the Parish Centre is available for use. We are now moving on to other phases to repair the church entrances, windows and add to the facilities.
