Values and Vision

A CHURCH PRESENCE

St Oswald’s has been a place of worship in Filey since the 12th Century and continues to be a thriving hub today.

St. John's was completed by 1901. It currently holds more informal services and contains the Parish Community Centre used by a variety of groups.

St. Thomas' was built in 1897 as a private Chapel for the Beswick family. There is a regular Sunday service with Holy Communion once per month.

VALUES

As people of faith, our purpose is to worship and serve God both in the life of the Church and the wider community.

We believe in a loving God revealed to us through the Bible and the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

We are flawed people, but … God’s grace reaches out to everyone.

VISION

Our Mission is to be the family of Christ, who love and serve God,  filled by the Holy Spirit, sharing God’s love in word and action.

We endeavour to do this in three ways:

Deepening our faith.  By developing a richness of commitment and becoming more Christ-like.

Growing the Church. By reaching out to others with God's love, building fellowship and adding to our numbers those who believe.

Serving the community. By having concern for the needs of others and respspond in the way of Christ with compassion, kindness, humility and patience.
